Emergency and Community Alerts


The City of Ketchikan and the Ketchikan Gateway Borough are converting to the new Everbridge Community Alert system from Nixle. This will allow community wide Amber Alerts, Tsunami alerts and address specific neighborhood alerts.

Nixle alerts will cease at the end of January 2026.

Current Nixle users must re-register for community alerts since the database from Nixle cannot be transferred to Everbridge. 

The sign up is a couple of pages long but is simple to complete. 

It requires you to create Community Profile for yourself  and then sign up for your community alerts which is the Greater Ketchikan area.

Your Personal Community Profile Powered by Everbridge

Create one profile to access emergency alerts and manage settings across multiple alert subscriptions.
When you create a community profile, you can:
  • Access existing Ketchikan Alert subscriptions, which are linked to this profile.
  • Edit alert subscriptions and add new ones, such as the Troopers.
  • Manage notification preferences for all alerts you're subscribed to.
  • Update your own contact information for all alert subscriptions.

You will complete the following forms 


Emergency Notification App for phones and tablets - Add your Everbridge Profile to the Mobile App


Add your account to the Public Safety Everbridge App to get alerts and more information. You can also manage your account through the app to change your address, email or phone number 



Local Emergency Planning Committee

The City of Ketchikan Fire Chief is the Program Manager for the LEPC which meets at noon on the 2nd Wednesday of every month.  Meetings are held at the White Cliff Building from May through September and at Fire Station 1 (70 Bawden St.) from October through April; learn more about the  Greater Ketchikan Area LEPC  .
