Intermediate and Advanced Northwest Coast Carving: Masks
Instructor:  Tommy Joseph
January 23 – February 3, 2016
Mondays – Fridays, 6 – 9 PM 
Saturdays, 9 AM – 5 PM
Registration Fee:  $225 / $200 if student registers 2 weeks prior to class

Prerequisite:  Introduction to Northwest Coast Carving or previous carving experience

Join guest instructor and Tlingit carver Tommy Joseph in designing and carving traditional Northwest Coast masks. Masks were a central part of any celebration dance, used to transform the wearer and tell stories and clan histories with powerful expressiveness. Tommy Joseph will help students bring their chosen design to life, and will guide students through the steps of this challenging project from design, to transfer, to basic form and finishing details.
