The Solid Waste Collection Division is responsible for providing safe and efficient collection and handling of municipal solid waste, demolition debris, and recyclable products. The operation should be beneficial to the public by maximizing recycling when economically feasible and improving operations to better serve Ketchikan. It is the responsibility of the staff to help and serve the public. The Division is responsible for promoting programs that reduce waste and educate the community. The Division follows regulatory guidelines and makes every effort to meet the requirements set forth by those regulations. It is the responsibility of the Division to promote an active and positive image of solid waste collection.

 Solid Waste Disposal 

The mission of the Solid Waste Disposal Division is to continue providing safe and economic solid waste disposal management and to offer such services in an environmentally sound manner while fostering recycling, composting and re-use. The Division strives to furnish customers with expedient and efficient service.

 Solid Waste Recycling 

The Solid Waste Recycling Division is responsible for providing safe and efficient collection and handling of recyclable products. The Division attempts to make service beneficial to the public by maximizing recycling when economically feasible and improving the operation to better serve Ketchikan. It is the responsibility of the staff to help and assist the public. The Division is responsible for promoting programs that reduce waste and educate the community.

The following items may be delivered to the Recycle Center for Recycling and must be separated.

Cardboard, Aluminum, Glass, Used Oil, Auto Batteries, Fluorescent Bulbs and Brush.

Household Hazardous Waste Drop - Monday thru Saturday - Residential Residents Only.
