To apply for new services at a location:
If you are establishing services at a location that has not had them before, follow the steps provided in the Electrical Service Requirements Handbook before coming in to customer service. Bring all necessary zoning permits and meter assignment paperwork with you.
When you come in to apply for services, be sure to bring a valid state photo ID for identity verification purposes for all individuals who wish to be listed on the account.We also recommend that you bring a rental agreement or lease, or any other document that has your service address clearly printed on it. This will ensure that your services are established at the correct location, and avoid any complications that might result in delaying the establishment of your services.
The customer service representative will run a credit check to determine whether a deposit will be required to establish service. In lieu of a deposit you can also provide a letter from a previous utilities provider certifying your standing as a customer, to be approved at the discretion of customer service. Information about deposit rates can be found in the Ketchikan Municipal Code.
Be aware that the set-up process can at times take up to an hour, and plan accordingly.
